I was looking for a place to put this so we could discuss but didn't really find a place that worked so I created this thread so we can all place articles, experiences, videos and examples of racism in the USA.

This is one that happened this week. The lady even called and filed a complaint on the officer. This officer also chose to wear the body cam (apparently, LA doesn't require this yet). This exchange wasn't necessarily racist IMO until she started with the "mexican racist...you will never be white, like you want" garbage. That is when it turned racist IMO

All the murderer and other insults, I think are just a by product of CRT and ACAB rhetoric that is very common on the radical left and sadly is being brought to mainstream in this country.

Another point that I think is worth mentioning is she is a teacher and the sense of entitlement she feels is mind blowing.

None of this addresses anything I said. You said:

"The best way to end racism is to change a negative stereotype into a positive stereotype. This was accomplished by Jackie Robinson."

Jackie didn't end racism, so your claim is bullshirt. He also defied those stereotypes by going to college and excelling in sports, then becoming an officer in the army after he was drafted. None of that stopped people from being racist to him directly.

You are putting the onus on the people experiencing racism and negative stereotypes. In addition, you are insinuating that those victims of racism just aren't trying hard enough.
The problem is that you guys compare the racism situation to an utopia that will never exist. Racism exists today and may never be eradicated. However, JR opened the door for black baseball players and other athletes. If you compare this achievement to the utopia then JR did not finish the job.

It’s almost as if white people are being replaced… that’s an interesting theory.
The fertility rate of white people all over the world is below replacement levels (less than two kids per couple). In Germany the state will pay money to german women to get pregnant, but it does not work. The modern successful woman is not interested in motherhood. The fertility rate is also low in Japan. It has been said the japanese will go extinct. The young are also having much less sex.

You are right, it will never be eradicated. Bu like i said before, that doesn't mean it should be ignored. The racists still need to be called out for who they are and shouldn't get a pass just because thats the way it is. Nope, If it takes public shaming, then so be it..

Sure, but you're the one who repeatedly said "end racism" and set arbitrary conditions for it that both place the burden on the victims and are clearly unfulfillable, as we have seen time and time again that it doesn't always work on a micro level, much less a macro level.

I venture to say that in sports the best athlete wins and there is no favoritism towards European athletes.

    @Paul

I know about a guy that was really smart. He would disagree with you.

Einstein refused to teach at all white schools but lectured frequently at all Black colleges.

Oh he also said: “The separation of races is not a disease of colored people but a disease of white people. I do not intend to be quiet about it."

So was he just the second (jeebus) woke person in history?

I don't think any US states approach 50% black population. Certainly some cities/towns, but I don't think any state has come close to a majority black population.
We were talking about in 1920. My point was that it’s ridiculous to assert that the US has ever had a single homogeneous culture. It never has.

Edited to add: I looked it up: in 1920 both SC and MS were 50% or higher black population.

I understand the point Yang was making but I also understand the backlash against it

Asian Americans who are 5th generation Americans have to "show their American-ness in ways they never have before"?

In ways that 5th generation white Americans who are terrible, awful people don't have to?

In ways that 1st generation citizens with white British parents don't have to? Hell, in ways that white immigrants from Britain don't have to?

I've posted the old saying before

"Have to be twice as good to go half as far"

I have to be the most ideal, super, most bestest "American" American and then maybe I'll be treated like a human being?

I see why people may take offense to that
    I get that too.

Hey, I shouldn't have to explain that F=ma to a poster on SR, but I did... and it didn't matter.

I shouldn't have to explain to people that your house keys aren't a magnetic alloy, they're brass. So, the vaccine doesn't make them stick to you.

    Sometimes it's all we have.

I always find comments about adopting American culture funny. American culture is vastly different by region, race, religion, and economic status. Different combinations of those things output massive cultural differences.

There is no American culture. That term is just code for "act like a suburban white dude".
From New Orleans, Dallas, LA, or Chicago? Those are all very different white dudes ;)

This isn't about sports, this is about everyday racism. Jackie Robinson did a lot more than just playing baseball.

Blacks started the race way behind and it will take a long time to catch up. We are moving in the right direction.
Two runners start a race but one is held back at the start. In order for the runner who was held back to catch up, that runner would have to run at a much faster pace while avoiding obstacles that the first runner has started throwing on the track. The only way for the runner that was held back to catch up would be to slow down the front runner, remove all of the obstacles that the front runner threw onto the track to slow down the held runner and prohibit the front runner from creating any more obstacles to be thrown on the track.

We will never catch up. We just want to be allowed to run at the same speed. Your quote above tells me that you don't understand that concept at all.

I disagree, I think parity will be reached without slowing down the runners ahead. It just takes more time than just a few decades. I am saddened by the pessimism and the downplay of the progress that has been made. I am much more optimist than you are. It is important to look forward to a better future. Let's leave the tribal warfare behind.

It's math dude. If 2 cars are racing and one starts the race doing 50 MPH and the other car is held at the start, the only way for the second car to catch up to the first car is to go faster than the first car. If the 2nd car takes off at 50 MPH, it will never catch up to the 1st car. Either the first car will have to be slowed down or the 2nd car will have to be allowed to travel faster than 50 MPH. It's not a difficult concept.

    OK, fine
Do you realize that all groups achieve differently. Not all Asians are high achievers. It is mostly East Asians. Latin Americans do not achieve equally; the Cubans have near parity with the Anglos whereas people from El Salvador lag behind. Nigerians and Jamaicans are ahead of AAs. Among Americans of European ancestry there is wide disparity in income according to country of origin.

What we need is progress forward. It is not a competition of keeping up with the Jones. I know this may sound harsh, but I am disheartened by the pessimism.

OK, maybe I am wrong. So POC is responsible for 25.5%?
    No, you definitely are wrong.

And yes, white people are responsible for almost 3 times as many anti-Asian hate crimes as POC. 74.5 is still greater than 25.5.
