I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

I just want to say this and I know it may be a bit inflammatory but it's on my heart and I want to speak it.

Today really needs to end the "both sides" bullshirt. I'm starting to hear the "both sides need to bring the temperature down" or "both sides need to come together."

"Both sides" didn't rush the Capitol today. Both sides weren't vandalizing the Capitol today. Both sides weren't occupying the Capitol today.

America has a white supremacists, right wing terrorists problem. All summer I watched, read and heard a segment of this country demonize BLM protests and call them thugs, a mob, unlawful and applaud law enforcement's manhandling and abuse towards them. And, yet, what did we watch unfold today?

This is not a both sides issue. It's one side and it needs to be put in check and dealt with. These citizens aren't lemmings marching to the pied piper's beat. They are willing participants in the con and we need to shame them back into irrelevance.

Sen R's are carefully passing the buck, speaking now is Sen Marshall from Kansas, he is a Sedition Caucus member and he has rambled on about how proud he is to serve the people of Kansas.

What a wonderful use of time... /sarcasm

They need to cut it short, and just vote on the AZ objection. They are either seditionists or not.

Well, the Sedition Caucus cannot get rid of that stench now, but there are a bunch of senators (including one from my state) who have yet to say which way they will vote.

I was thinking about bumping that "both sides" topic earlier today, but figured with everything going on in this topic and the other one, maybe it would kind of get little traction

Sen Bennet is my forking hero!!!!
In typical Michael Bennet fashion, he called out Ted Cruz and his phony objections based off of lies. He then challenge him to go outside and tell those people that they were lied to.

For the life of me I have never understood that crap.

They actually idolize losers. People that gave up. That is the one thing that never made sense to me even when I was a small child I understood that symbol is the symbol of an actual loser even before I understood the racist part.

    Just pathetic.

These are the same people who think Trump is some tough alpha.
