I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

Well, Cruz and one other Sen R has already signed on to the AZ objection. I'm not sure how they proceed from there but, that process has already been started.

They will have to vote on that objection since it was co-signed. Hopefully, none of them will co-sign any further objections and we can get this over with.

Scalise already had his time for that so if no one else is willing to go along then both chambers can go straight to a vote and move on.

Yeah, I snapped responded to @MT15 and deleted my post!!! :9:

edit: Apparently I didn't delete it fast enough :hihi:

Please McConnell, I know this is a lot to ask, but move to close debate and vote quickly to reject the motion to disallow the Arizona electors and then let's count the remaining votes.

    Disgusting, seditious traitors...

I wish could even pretend to be shocked

The more I think about it, the more I realize that he has no choice but to continue in his seditious actions. It's either that, or admit that this whole circus is built on a lie and he doesn't have the courage to tell the American people that he has lied to them.

The only thing McConnell failed to do was turn to the gallery and tell each of his people, on the record, to shelve their objections lest they incite more people to violence.

He sounded as pissed as Pence was.

Really starting to wonder if Trump won't be out of office in the next 24 hours. I was definitely hoping Pence would open by calling on Congress to join him in invoking the 25th amendment but thinking about it that would probably be against the rules for this particular proceeding.
