I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

That entire building is a COVID hotspot now too. The only masks anyone is wearing is gas. Pictures of these terrorists sitting maskless in Senators chairs.

If these guys where smart you'd be wearing a mask just so your harder to identify. All those selfies in senators chairs and chambers are going to come in handy when it's time to start identifying and arresting madrefrockers

My guess is these objections will not occur any more in lieu of what is occurring.

Lots of people posting about how different this response is compared to BLM protests and the sit in of disabled people in front of Mitch’s office during the ACA debates.

She can go to jail too.

I heard the police have secured the doors with heavy chains. So the terrorists who are inside can be rounded up.

I also think I heard them talking about reconvening at another location and finished up their business.

    Sad day here.

I hate to be that guy but this is the day that gun rights died. This is the day lots of freedoms will be lost because of a minor fragment of the population ruined it for everyone.

    white privilege? Good lord

They are in a really tough spot- keep the peace. IF that means keeping that one guy from anything by taking selfie, im ok with it.

This was an absolute tinder box. Not for all- but a handful that could have ( and still can ) go sideways.

But Im in total agreement here....its just another indication of what being white affords you. Benefit of doubt.
