Control of the Senate is on the line. Assuming the current numbers will stand on recount, only 1.9% of the vote (90,295 votes) separated Republican incumbent David Perdue from his Democratic challenger, Jon Ossof. The third place Libertarian candidate received 2.3% of the vote (144,566 votes). In the special election, Raphael Warnock led the pack with 32.9% of the vote trailed by incumbent Kelly Loeffler who received 25.9% of the vote. Doug Collins, the other major GOP candidate, finished with 20% of the vote. Various other Democrat candidates finished with a combined 15.5% of the vote. Various other GOP candidates finished with 3.4% and roughly 2% for independent candidates.

Andrew Yang has posted that he will be moving to Georgia to help campaign for Ossof and Warnock.

Ms Palin attended her first event of the campaign called the “Save America Tour”, which was organised by the conservative group Club for Growth. She has repeated the claims President Trump has been making of the election being rigged against him.

Before Ms Palin, representative-elect Marjorie Taylor Greene also addressed the crowd and said: "We all know for a fact that Joe Biden did not win Georgia. We know that Georgia re-elected Donald J Trump."

According to NBC News, when questioned why she was repeating election conspiracy theories that have already been debunked by multiple courts and Georgia's Republican governor and secretary of state, Ms Greene said: "Those aren’t conspiracies that have been debunked. Those are real things that happened and they haven’t been debunked."

She also defended her past support of QAnon conspiracy theories, saying: "I'll never apologise for looking up other information. I have no apology there."

So this woman has a proposal that might just make the result of these two races in GA less significant. It’s a way to loosen McConnell’s death grip on the Senate, without having to change anything procedurally. According to her, the Senate wasn’t intended to be at the complete mercy of the Majority Leader and his power over bills isn’t supposed to work the way it is now.

Makes me wish someone had brought this up when Obama nominated Merrick Garland. He would have still needed four Republicans to vote for him, with Biden breaking a 50-50 tie, and being it was an election year it's likely no one would have broken ranks and we'd still end up in the same place. But it would have been worth the shot.

Pfft, I learned all that from School House Rock!

These past 8 years, more so the last four, Congress has surrendered all of their power to the Executive Branch. There's no longer any committee debates in the House or Senate to flesh out their differences, those are being had with WH officials. You need to look no further than this fight over the Covid relief bill, the negotiations are being had between Pelosi and Mnuchin. Where are House Republicans?

McConnel refuses to even debate House passed bills, much less, put them up for votes. That's not how any of this supposed to work.

That’s an old, already debunked tweet. That isn’t her real Parler account. At least that is what I saw, debunked by Yashar Ali.

McConnell is so much better at strategy then Democrats. He got 3 SC picks, tons of judges, and permanent tax cuts for the wealthy in 4 years. He did more in 4 years for his side then Obama did in 8. He also loves the gridlock, wealth continues to redistribute to the very top. That's all by design, and isn't gong anywhere. Manchin is already on record saying he won't support getting rid of the filibuster. You won't see a flurry of new bills even if Democrats win both GA seats. I don't agree with the guy at all, but I respect the hustle. I wish Democrats had a McConnell on their side.

There's a couple of reasons for that and you should know the reason. 1) The Democrats main goal was not to stack/pack the courts, they choose to let those things happen naturally, not by filling those positions by ideologs. And 2) McConnel blocked duly qualified judges the were appointed by Obama. So many in fact, the Dems had to kill the filibuster just so they could fill the seats that they were able to fill.

Without scruples, you can gain a short term advantage if you break norms left and right, and pursue your advantage at the expense of the system. It's effective short term tactics, perhaps, but terrible long term strategy.

It’s sorta like respecting the tactics of a Mafia Don, to me.

Actually, if Perdue wins and Loeffler loses and the two Senate runoff races are split, that would give Republicans a 51-49 Senate advantage, a +1 seat margin, to the Democrats 49. Not completely 50/50 but still a razor-thin margin lead that GOP can use for the next two years at least can use to block or obstruct some of Biden's modest legislation, saying nothing about his more ambitious legislation which even with a 50/50 split, GOP legislators still might try and use PR tactics or edgy leftover Trumpish populism to stall or curry popular opinion.

This is a good point about Biden's modest legislation that McConnell and Senate Republicans will block if Republicans win these seats. Forget all the rightwing propaganda about Biden and Democrats being leftwing extremists who will ruin America. If liberal (or progressive) Democrats are to get a few concessions from Biden these seats mean everything. However I can't help thinking polls showing a close race and possible Democratic victories for Ossoff and Warnock could be very wrong. The polls in the Presidential race gave Biden a bigger lead and margin of victory than he actually got too.

What long term winning do you see Democrats doing? Latino's have proven they are still a minority group very much in play, and not a monolith. The neoliberal movement probably peaked under Obama. That was their moment to enact whatever change they wanted. What did you get? Romneycare.

I mean reality is either Democrats are hopeless inept, or corrupt beyond saving.

The main things these senate seats do is make it so the Biden administration positions get filled, and appoint judges.

So here are some numbers for early voting and mail in ballots that have been counted so far. Someone in the comments said that drop box ballots in their county haven't been counted yet so I'm not sure if that's statewide or if every county does it differently.

I really don’t know what to make of this. The only logical result is that this is an effort to help the Democrats win, but that’s quite a long con from Lin Wood. It’s also possible that he’s that crazy and this is all just delusion, so logic doesn’t apply.

This is what you make of it, Chuck...

    My brain hurts.
