Are you telling me to show empathy for that sack of crap who's mismanagement cost my sister in law her job? How about I say that you showing sympathy for that sack of crap means you're aligning yourself with that sack of crap. Don't tell people how to feel just so you can stand on some high moral ground. This is some level of horse manure. I and anyone who's express anger and show some sort of schadenfreude have that right. So don't moral police and guilt us just to make urself feel morally superior. We are not actively killing him. He did it to himself with his stupidity.
I haven't told anyone to do anything. I haven't told anyone how to feel. Everyone's feelings are valid, because they are their feelings. I would never try to invalidate anyone's feelings.

I simply pointed out that it's possible to show empathy for everyone at the same time. I didn't say and I don't think anyone is obligated to do so. I didn't in any way judge or guilt people either way. I'm not making any judgements.

If anyone thinks that I have sympathy, not to be mistaken with empathy, or aligned myself with Trump, then they are mistaken. And anyone who thinks I feel any sense of moral superiority doesn't understand me at all, and frankly, they are paying close enough attention to what I say. A feeling of moral superiority of any kind by anyone is destructive for both individuals and society. I'm very much opposed to it and work hard to avoid it in myself.

Infoman, I would appreciate any clarification you would care to give about the post where you responded to me. Your language may be misinterpreted, so I want to be sure that I understand what you are saying correctly.

To me, you seem to be saying that having negative feelings about someone is the same as doing things that have actively hurt other people. The only difference is that I haven’t acted on them because I don’t have the means to do so. Is that a fair recap of what you meant?

I'm opposed to both the death penalty and the punitive/vengeance focus of our current justice system.
    Ok?

Also, separating someone from society is not the same thing as removing them from the world. Not even close.

That depends on your definition of "removing from the world". If a child rapist is incarcerated, aren't we practically removing them from society, from our world?

What would you think of a man who kidnaps a 15 year old, rapes her multiple times, cuts her arms off with an ax, then tosses her half dead into a ravine? Is that someone you'd like to keep around your world?

In some ways you and those that are equivocating someone like me who show delight in the irony of this whole situation are making judgment calls. You are dismissing why we are angry and deemed that we are somehow similar to Trump because of how we feel. That is judging us. and by doing that, you (not you particularly) are putting yourself above us morally. The reason why I flipped back the scenario of a person who defends or shows sympathy to Trump getting corvid is to make the point that I too don't have the right to dismiss that person's feelings or action. Had I done so, I too would make a moral judgment of that person for how they feel. I have zero right in doing that. And your defensive posture in this post makes that point. I've read your past comments to know that you don't agree with Trump.

No clarification needed really.... I didn't make some deep comment that was vague or disingenuous... You said you were struggling with the thought that you would wish death on the POTUS... You also said that despite that.... You knew you were a better person than he was....

If that's your stance... we disagree. We are not talking about negative feelings here... we are talking about hoping someone dies, becase of political affiliation and the proliferation of lies and propaganda. This is where my line gets crossed on this subject... Nothing more nor less.

If you feel that way, or if it crosses your mind as a valid or possible solution... you are on the same level as Trump. That's my take. If you'd take off your political hat for a second, and not take your political differences as personal attacks, and wear your political views as a personality trait.... I think you'd realize this, and that's likely why you "struggle with the thought"

we really need a new emoji for tripe like this

Normal human: I don’t care if all the confederates/nazis are dead, they tried to enslave/genocide my people and I’m tired of watching my friends and family suffer and die under this. We’d be better off with them dead.

Infoman: You’re no better than them. Both sides!!

thanks for the clarification, we will have to disagree here. My struggling with negative feelings, and yes that is exactly what they are, is in no way the same as Trump’s direct actions. Thats just a moral fallacy.

If you think I would actually do anything to hurt Trump, other than vote against him, you have zero basis for thinking that. I do realize that my negative feelings have zero effect on him, and only hurt me, hence my struggle to keep myself from going there.

Lies and propaganda are not the reason I oppose him. He has lied and cheated his entire life, and never really been held accountable. Basically he’s a crook and a con man, a bully. All of this is objectively true.

His neglect of his sworn duty is responsible, in large part, for the deaths of thousands and thousands of our fellow citizens. We have it now from his tapes, he understood how deadly the virus was, and chose to down play it. It was a conscious decision that has cost lives.

I think it’s a particularly cruel form of moralizing to say that I am the same as Trump. That’s my feeling about your stance.

Good news, everybody. Want to feel the best you've felt in decades? Just ignore all health protocols and get yourself some of that sweet CODID nectar!

Mix a little bit of oxygen with some experimental antibody treatments, hardcore steroid and a little car ride, with all the best medical care that your $750 in tax money can buy, and you'll be right as rain.

/sarcasm off, it is hard to imagine this guy making his administration's response to this pandemic worse by getting the virus, but he probably will.

Very few masks at the ACB event. No masks in the debate activities. The Trump family refused to wear masks at the debate even after being reminded that the rules required masks.

This is objectively selfish, reckless behavior and objectively bad judgment.

There are only 2 people in masks. They are facing away and in the back. Not sure if they are part of the campaign or other staff..
