I do think the Benghazi thing probably scared the Biden camp a bit. Scared me enough anyway especially when you had Harris without any major baggage.

I think the reputation Kamala has is when she prepares for a topic, she's really good at constructing and delivering a very good argument. She's less good at off-the-cuff discussions.

I don't remember Pence at all from 2016 (good or bad)... which is basically I think what you want from your VP debate.

C'mon now. Pence is an absolute master at talking for long stretches without actually saying anything. By the time he finishes speaking, you are asking yourself, "what was the question again?"

I agree, but I would imagine that Biden has a senior foreign policy role in mind for Rice.

Yeah, I don't think Pence is going to lose Trump voters in a debate. Where Kamala can help in debate is by alleviating voters concerned about Biden's age and health. She can help voters feel comfortable that if something happens to Biden, there's a VP pick who can come in and do a job that they feel good about.

I was hoping he would select Abrams, but I know she was an underdog. I understand the Harris pick, she is kind of the safe choice that checks all the boxes.

Was it a stupid thing to say, yep, it sure was but I wouldn't say it was racist.
I also agree that I don't see a mass defection just because of the weirdness of this particular election but I have a few black friends that are more TRUMP than I am.
I do think a shift will happen but probably not this November, though I hope and pray I am wrong and it is a huge defection. That community deserves so much better.

I didn't call it racist, but I think it is a bit of an indicator of his mindset. In actuality, the black community is actually pretty diverse in political desires and belief in the best methods to solve them. While it's true that the black community votes very consistently for the Democratic party - that's mainly a function of the switch in the 60's to Democrats starting to back Civil Rights and the long term damage caused by Republican's Southern strategy. My read on it is the black community doesn't trust that Republicans are listening to their concerns and the Democrats at least pay it lip service.

However, there is a lot of discontent in the black community with the Democrats. They are safe this election cycle, but if the Republicans actually started loudly and actively acknowledging that a large section of the black community feels alienated by American society and they aren't crazy for thinking that, and then started engaging them in a conversation that will lead to a Republican solution to that alienation (other than what seems to me to be a belief that if we just don't talk about it, eventually prosperity will reach all and then everything will be ok); the Republican could peel a good number of the black American vote away from Democrats.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen any indication that they are likely to do it.

If I do I'll own it. Not directed at you but I will never bow down to the group that thinks that you can't vote your choice but rather you have to pick from the establishment.

She was SF DA then Cali AG... Yeah she is really good at arguments

I think there is an element that Biden had to go with someone with experience in running for office.

Fox News was ready, lol. They're in an all out campaign media blitz to frame the VP pick for Trump voters and other Fox News watcher that might not be feeling great about the pres.

I was waiting for several candidates in the primary to attack her on her record as a prosecutor, she wasn't hit. That will change now, especially in this current anti-law/police feeling in the country. And Trump. Love him or hate him and all in between but Trump is a mud monster.

I disagree... I mean, there’s always politics involved.. but i think in the end it came down to who was the ‘most Presidential’ in the event she’d have to take over as POTUS.. now who YOU think is most Presidential might differ greatly from what orthers of us think is “presidential”.. Also, Biden knows firsthand that Harris doesnt take any crap since she handed him his own *** in their debate last year.

I think she will deflect these comments well. She can always respond that this admin is snatching people off the streets and adding to the violence.

He’s a mud monster for sure and Americans love mud wrestling. The incumbent has certain advantages. First debate is Sept 29.

I think there are other potential picks who would have checked just as many boxes as Harris checked. I personally think Abrams is fine, but IMO didnt seem quite as ’ready for prime time’ as some others, particularly Harris and Warren.. my second choice, behind K Harris, woulda been Susan Rice.. Abrams and KL Bottoms were near the , no pun intended, bottom of the list for me, though i do like them both and i think they both have bright futures.. maybe subconsciously it’s the ‘Atlanta’ thing i dont like , lol
