This video popped into my recommended Youtube list and I watched it. It was eye opening to say the least. I have traditionally been a fan of using tax incentives to lure industry and help spur economic development. I did not realize just how far out of whack Louisiana is from other states.

I will watch it later, but my suspicions are that it is going to be something I have seen before.

There was this guy I used to read on a message board and he went by the name Oye. We were discussing the decline of Detroit and he made the observation that Detroit faltered in large part because it did the bidding, almost universally, of the corporations that dominated the city: auto companies and suppliers.

I thought it was an interesting point and did some minor investigating it, and I think what he said is true. I suspect that might be similar to what this video will say.

im sorry if you are the wrong poster that I’m addressing.

do you think the uneducated in Louisiana are the conservatives? If you didn’t make this statement I apologize. I just want to see if I’m going to take your post seriously in the future. If you did say it and we’re just being momentarily hyperbolic, no biggie and I will let it go.

That was in a different thread, this thread is about corporate tax breaks and how it affects the state of Louisiana. Try to keep the comments here about the video I posted. If you check the other thread, I have replied to you multiple times. If you wish to banter about education levels, please reply to one of my posts in the other thread, perhaps the one I posted with multiple links about education levels and the shifting demographics in politics.

you never answered that question in the other thread.

And now you post what is equivalent to a high school speech one assignment. Again acting as if conservatives are the reasons things “suck so bad”.

By the way my family has a great life here in the great state of Louisiana.

    Did you watch the video?

I got through 8:15. I didn’t want to waste anymore time on that propaganda. It opened poorly and never took off. The whole 2 parish comparison was terrible. Why those two parishes? Never mind, I’m not even going to get in the weeds on this, it’s not worth the little effort that I have already invested.

Would you consider yourself a high information voter?

My answer is in the post below.

I am not acting as if Conservatives are the reasons things "Suck so bad", but I will say that one of the reasons my views have become less Conservative is the empirical evidence of Louisiana under Jindal and Minnesota under Pawlenty; both gave large tax cuts that bankrupted their respective states.

I will also say that you totally missed the point of the video. You brought up the two parish comparison as stupid and then asked why those two parishes were chosen. They were the SAME parish.

Congratulations on having a great life in the great state of Louisiana. It may surprise you, but I also consider myself and my family to have a great life. I am not sure exactly how political affiliation affects the greatness of one's life. If you think our state is great now, imagine how much better it could be with a responsible corporate tax structure!

Jindal was a disaster in many ways, as was Blanco, Edwin Edwards and Dave treen. (I kinda liked mike foster). I also voted for John bell twice.

I don’t see how your so called responsible corporate tax structure would change my life in the least.

so are you backing away from the accusation that conservatives are the uneducated in la? Follow up post below.

I actually made another post, but it seems to have disappeared.

everything in the answer you linked was about national statistics. The only thing possibly related to Louisiana was your assertion

“what I am saying as plainly as possible is that less educated voters tend to vote for Trump.”

I’m pretty sure the areas with the largest home income, the best rated schools and the high test nbr of college graduates voted for trump. The lower income areas with the worse schools, lock in step voted for Hillary.

Before I bust out the breakdown of the votes from the 2016 election, do you want to back off of your assertion that the less educated people in la voted for trump?

We have things in common!!! Jindal and Blanco were indeed both disasters! I also voted for John Bell twice. I even voted for Edwin Edwards when he ran against Duke.

A responsible corporate tax structure would swell state coffers allowing them to invest more into infrastructure around the state. More money for road improvements. More money for teacher pay raises. More money for making the state better.

I am not backing away from anything. I said what I said and posted multiple links asserting the same.

That's outrageous. What's surprising is that some companies are getting over 99% of their property exempted from taxes, while others are only getting about 60%. It's good that Bel Edwards passed the executive order to give local representatives a say over the ITEP decisions, but it needs to be codified into law.

Louisiana ranks near the bottom in pretty much every metric related to education.

I don’t understand the offense being taken to the notion that people in Louisiana are poorly educated.

When the truth is offensive, we shouldn’t blame the messenger.
