I figured we needed a thread specifically about the media.

There was a very big correction recently by the Washington Post.

That story was supposedly "independently confirmed" by CNN, NBC News, USA Today, ABC News, & PBS News Hour. How could they all have gotten the quote wrong if they actually independently confirmed the story?

Why do all the errors always go in one political direction and not closer to 50/50?

I mean... you're buying into Russian propaganda and placing the blame for everything at the feet of someone other than that genocidal maniac Putin. Don't want to get lumped in with them, don't stick up for them. It's simple.

Look the other way on the proxy war that the US has been involved with since the coup in 2014? Can you explain why the US always finds a new war or military engagement to get involved in? Do you ever question why that keeps happening no matter how many times we screw things up?
So it was the US that actually invaded? Putin thanks you for spreading his propaganda. Lol.

You guys accuse everyone of being a Russian asset, supporting Putin, or spreading Russian propaganda that questions anything at all about the US narrative about the war or foreign policy.

Do you know how idiotic that sounds? Do you feel bad for falling for the propaganda from the US war machine? Are you not intellectually curious enough to question the US war narratives that quite often fall apart later down the line?

Ok, cool. Let's question things. Forget the links and the tweets and the opinions of others for a minute. Why don't you explain what caused this war and why Russia invaded a sovereign nation?

No, if you were actually willing to question things you wouldn’t be in this position. But what you do is simply blame the US all the time and never blame Putin. All of your framing is straight out of Russia, without any acknowledgment of Russia’s part. You even just blamed a corporation, as if they invaded.

Someone looks incurious and seems duped by propaganda, but it isn’t me.

So, since you seem to obliquely acknowledge that the US didn’t invade, and given the fact that Russia is invading a sovereign nation and blatantly attempting to destroy them, what should the US do in this situation? Just ignore it, and to the victor the spoils?

    Like clockwork.

I would start with the US staying out of other countries business unless it directly threatens us.

How does Russia invading Ukraine compare to the US invading Iraq?

So you don’t think that the current iteration of Russia is a threat to Europe? You don’t think we have any interest in keeping Europe peaceful and stable?

And you had the nerve to call me idiotic? Good lord….

So you seem to be implying because we made a mistake in Iraq that Putin deserves to invade Ukraine? Good lord, what kind of misguided “logic” is this?

This has to be the most brain dead post I've read on this thread.....you honestly don't think Russia is a direct threat to our European allies? Or worse, maybe you don't even think we have European allies?

Texas and New York both have higher GDPs than Russa and you are worried about Russia invading part of Europe? The same Russian army that couldn't even keep control of the areas of Ukraine it had previously taken?

Yeah, it's not like they have nuclear capability or anything.....what a brain dead response....

    @SaintForLife

You worldview is minimal is it is obvious you have spent zero time learning the history of the regions you are talking about.

You said Russia has a smaller GDP than some states and are not a threat. What is North Korea’s GDP? They not a threat?

But let’s play out Technofog, I mean, your scenario. So Russia is now in control of Ukraine and moving on Moldova. We helping then? Georgia? Poland? How about then? At what point do we get involved? Never? We just let people be crushed and live under an imperialist regime that uses them as the resources to fuel Moscow? That ain’t American. We learned our lesson last time about isolationism. You better take your arse to Switzerland.

You said the Russians can’t advance. Why can’t they advance? What is stopping their progress? Why hasn’t Russia taken Kiev; and is now on the verge of being defeated by a country it used to rule? With an even tinier GDP?

Two things. The unbreakable spirit and fight of the Ukrainian people and huge amount of our second rate weapons we are supplying them. We aren’t even giving them our best stuff.

Then you call this a coup from 2014 and that this is all the US’s doing for our war machine. Yet you have provided exactly zero reasons as to why we should not aid a nation fighting against an invader. Just some randomness about the people making money.

Here is a piece of information about all that $ - it’s earmarked. As in the military is getting it one way or the other. 5 measly % of that MASSIVE budget is now going to help Ukraine defeat our main political and global rival for the last 70 years without a single American life being lost. That is the deal if the century.

But keep listening to a frozen fish heir tell you about how real Americans should think.

I know you guys have built up Russia to be this superpower that can barely be controlled and Putin is an evil genius who can outsmart the entire world just to justify the actions the US has been taking. If that makes you feel better go for it.

Putin is a bad guy, but there are plenty of bad leaders in the world. I understand the US has to have a bogeyman for the public to justify the US actions and money that they are using to combat Russia.

If you support the US war machine that's fine, but let's stop pretending it's to protect democracy or to protect Europe from Putin taking over their countries too.

More inane drivel from a duped pro Russian POV....nice try, you aren't fooling anyone....

What makes you think Putin would have just stopped with Ukraine, had their people not been well-armed and vigilant in defense of their country? He has stated several times that he views all the former parts of the USSR as fair game for Russia to take over. So, it’s fair to say he wouldn’t have stopped.

Once he has conquered the old Soviet empire, who says he wouldn’t keep going? Or whoever replaces him when he finally dies? This is far better dealt with here and now than ignored. History tells us this.

Hell, Putin’s history tells us this about him. Just look at what he has done in the past, after taking over Crimea without consequence he went for the entire country.
