Fingers crossed, and candles lit, let’s pray this is the end of this.

I have little positive to say about former President Trump, but I can’t even muster half that amount for this failure. She has absolutely zero redeeming qualities.

Will the city get enough votes to oust her? Who will replace her?

The city doesn't have enough smart voters to kick Cantrell out. I'm waiting for the misogynistic charges to start flying since they can't used the race card (petition filed by a black man).

Your first part was a given when she landed her second term.

Would the misogyny card trump the incompetence card?

These things invariably fail because the number of legitimate signatures it takes is fairly daunting (20% of registered voters). I think a smaller percentage than that bothered to vote in the last mayoral election. Even if the petition succeeded I'm not sure there is any serious candidate that would bother at this stage as opposed to simply waiting it out for the next election.

If you're a Democrat (and no Republican is going to be elected mayor of New Orleans... or most any other major city these days) why run against Cantrell and risk angering her base... regardless of how small it might be. I expect JP Morrell, Helena Morena, and Joe Giarrusso might be candidates in 2025.

That looks more like a line of people in Salt Lake City than NOLA.
Perhaps, however it’s Lakeview. Expecting diversity there is like expecting honesty in DC. Sure, there may be some in pockets, but by and large, there isn’t.

There have been several other petition signing locations throughout the city in predominantly black churches, and several bars. I imagine videos aren’t being captured there because it weakens a narrative.

Yea, i didn't mean to imply the recall was racist, i was just commenting on the whitest group of people i've ever seen in NOLA.

Oh, I’m sorry that I didn’t catch that.

I learned today that within my lifetime (the Hispanic population in New Orleans will be larger than the African American/Black population). That’s crazy to me, but according to the most recent census, it’s true.

Seems I was somewhat mistaken in my original post which assumed recalls here operated similarly to other states where the option to recall is accompanied by the requirement to vote for someone else requiring people to run at the same time as the recall vote. Apparently, per the Advocate, if Latoya 'da Destroya was recalled, the city council would appoint either TV's Helena Morena or J.P. Don't Call me Arthur or Cynthia Hedge Morrell as acting mayor (as they are the two council members at-large). A special election would he be held in about a year and the acting mayor would be able to run.

Quite honestly the person running the register at Popeyes on Carrollton and Earhart would be about as sound a fit as LaToya

One thing that I still can’t understand is how she still has supporters given all of her blunders. Hard Rock Hotel’s cleanup should have been enough, but folks are looking past that to say that this is race related. GTFOH
