Frankly, this might improve Warnock's chances of re-election, but that's JMHO.

The craziest and maybe the most amusing aspect of the Ga. runoff elections from early Nov.-Jan. 4 this year was that more then likely, the GOP probably win one of those runoff Senate elections, probably Perdue if Trump could've only let Purdue and Loeffler run on their own merits and not always have to be the center of attention at every single campaign rally he showed up at to "support" them. He kept telling Ga. voters not to vote in the Senate runoff elections because he told them the results were illegitimate anyway, thereby hampering GOP voter turnout during the runoff elections.

Trump, arguably, did far more to ensure or help the Dems regain a razor-thin majority in the Senate because even as late as late Dec. Chuck Schumer was privately telling confidants and fellow Senate Democrats that the Ga. runoff elections were going to be split and that the GOP would retain a 1-vote Senate majority as he saw Purdue defeating Ossoff in the runoff election.

I feel with Walkers past, there will be a percentage of GOP voters who would rather not vote. The whole alternate personalities and self admitted violent urges and memory gaps could hurt him come campaign time.

Herschel Walker is an extremely low IQ individual. I heard an interview with him where he was explaining his politics and it made zero sense.

This is the current Republican model for candidates. The days of intellectual conservatism are over. The party is now almost solely focused on tribal anger, which is the province of the dumb.

Some people might label these attacks his political rivals will make as "character assassination" and if some of you have actually done some research on Herschel's early life and upbringing, he was unmercifully bullied, beaten up by bigoted racists growing up in the late 50's and early 1960's in rural Ga. because of his stuttering problem, and IIRC, his dyslexic issues.

50-60 years ago, most kids or teenagers who were bullied physically or emotionally, werent given psychological help or treatment. Some were advised to just "take it" or "get even" by one day, finding each one of these bullies alone and beating the shirt out of them, send them to ER or ICU, if necessary. Become just as nasty or an even nastier, meaner, vicious SOB than those who taunt or ridicule you. If they try and go for your figurative throat, then you figuratively break their kneecaps so badly they scream like wailing pigs. Thats the road Herschel took and while it worked for a while during his long collegiate and professional football career, it wasnt until he'd retired that he really received actual psychological help he should've had when he was 13. He was diagnosed as having dissociative identity disorder and bipolar disorders by his psychotherapist.

You highly underestimate the power of campaign advertising. People don't care about the circumstances,
Walker running as a Republican so he isn't going to get any sympathy (at least from me) for being abused by racists as a child.

Those racists at the time may have been the children of democrats, but they grew up to be Republicans.

People with mental illness shouldn't hold elected office.

Then what does that say about their attention span or learning more about the facts.

If liberals decry Republicans when they run these same sort of campaign hit ads, and they respond in kind, don't expect the gloves to be coming back on the hands and the moral high-ground isnt so tall and imposing, when all your side can say, "Well, at least we're not as bad or go as far or low as they do when we do it".

And there's more then a few liberal, progressive Dems the GOP see as " red-meat" targets they can use all kinds of past statements, speeches, platform ideas, or misconstruing stances on certain complex issues and destroy their reputations. AOC, Illam Omar, Tlalib, Bernie Sanders and his reluctance to criticize certain failed, left-wing socialist, one-party authoritian regimes in Venezuela, and Cuba(bread lines are a great way of showing civic pride that everyone suffers under it, rich and poor, alike) come to mind.

So, if someone lets say a liberal Democrat has a history of depression, or was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder 30 years ago maybe in college, but successfully treated it with medication and intensive interpersonal therapy and has kept these issues under control for years, by your estimation, he/she shouldn't be allowed to hold political office?

I wouldn't vote for anyone who i knew was on medication for mental illness.

Even without mental illness, Hershel Walker is a joke of a candidate.

As someone who is on medication for depression, I don't think that anyone who is at a point in their life that they are needing current treatment for psychiatric disorders is at a point that they should be representing large swaths of constituents back home. Just like I would be fine with a 25 year recovered alcoholic or addict being elected to public office, but not that same person while they are actively drinking and/or getting high.

If someone uses medication to successfully treat depression/anxiety - the goal is to get off of the pills eventually. That's when I'd vote for someone who ever required being treated for mental health issues.
