New allegations in the Gaetz investigation - investigators are examining a Gaetz trip to the Bahamas that included women related to the 'pay for sex' investigation. The trip included a lobbyist that allegedly spoke to Gaetz about running a "ghost" candidate in a state senate election to siphon off votes of an opponent (this is illegal).

Funny, I never saw you in the Cuomo thread saying lets wait until the investigation is done before we make accusations

He didn’t even remind me about innocent until proven guilty when I said Coumo should resign weeks ago, like he does to us all the time when it involves a conservative or a cop, or any non liberal white heterosexual male.

Sadly, I can't be everwhere all of the time. I would most certainly have suggested that Cuomo is innocent until proven guilty.
I'm saddened that so many Americans on the forum have such contempt for the concept of Presumption of Innocence.

If you catch your wife in bed with another man, would you wait until the trial before you determined what happened?

Thank you, SBTB, I read his post and rolled my eyes so hard I was injured and couldn’t respond in a timely manner. 😁

You somehow think that people‘s opinions should be subject to some sort of regulation? No wonder we fought a war to get away from your control, lol.

We need to bring back dtc’s clown shoes, evidently.
Huh ? What on earth are you talking about ? Where did I say that peoples opinions should be subject to a regulation ?

You said that the legal concept of innocent until proven guilty should apply to the general public who have an opinion about him. 🤷‍♀️

You are basically saying we’re not entitled to have an opinion about what happened before the trial.

I’m just pointing out that we don’t have mind control here, and as long as we are not his jurors, we’re free to have our own opinions.

Furthermore, having an opinion on his likely guilt or innocence doesn’t mean we don’t respect the legal concept at use in our courts of law.

Sigh. Innocent until proven guilty is an intriguing concept. Equally interesting is the concept of a ”not guilty” verdict. Said verdict is not proof of innocence.

As for Gaetz? He would do well to keep his mouth shut but he appears to lack the ability. The Republican Party would also do well to, let us say, quasi-muzzle him in order to limit blowback. The question arises whether simple denial is more effective than generating a shirtstorm of word salad.

The court of public opinion is unrelated to the legal system thus calls from the left to “string him up” have no validity the same as calls from the right to lock up Hillary. They are noise. Depending upon the hearer said noise may by annoying or it may sound wonderful.

It's fascinating to see the Trumplican playbook on display in the UK..supposedly.

So, Saints by the Bay said this....
The presumption of innocence is a legal concept. It doesn’t apply to people’s opinions.
To which you replied with this question....
I think it does when those opinions are "He's guilty - string him up" ?
It's the Trumplican playbook on display. Say something and then not 10 minutes later, lie about not having said it. Bravo. You executed it flawlessly....except that it doesn't work in these parts. It just makes you look foolish and troll-like.

I didn't say it regulates peoples opinions. I castigated some members here for jumping on a bandwagon, and saying he was guilty. I simply said that he was merely being investigated, and a grand jury had been empanelled. Heck.. he hasn't even been CHARGED yet.

You can have whatever opinions you want. But that doesn't disqualify ME from saying that your opinions are badly formed and premature.

so what you are saying is, you have never formed an opinion that someone was guilty of something before they formally charged or tried.
