    This is forking crazy.

The Washington Post obtained a recording of the conversation in which Trump alternately berated Raffensperger, tried to flatter him, begged him to act and threatened him with vague criminal consequences if the secretary of state refused to pursue his false claims, at one point warning that Raffensperger was taking “a big risk.”

To further this point, Trump obliquely refers to a “Never Trumper” US Attorney in Georgia during the infamous phone call on Saturday. Leading to speculation that some sort of “ask” had already happened and been denied. 🤷‍♀️

The speculation I'm seeing at the moment tends to relate this move to some election-related task (e.g., the "ask" you're referring to relating to prosecuting non-existent voter fraud or something of that sort) as opposed to shielding Trump from criminal liability, as I'd suggested. Still, I have to think swapping US attorneys helps out with the lump in his throat about his own criminal exposure. Like everything else Trump does, this stinks.

    This made me laugh...

So interesting side note in this call - Trump purported to be represented by Cleta Mitchell, a senior partner at Foley and Lardner, a very large, high-profile law firm. After her participation on the call, there were questions in the legal community about whether she had advised and cleared her representation with her firm, particularly as the call waded into potential criminal conduct by the president.

    Today Mitchell left the firm.

and if you google her name w/ Foley- this is what you get.

    Swift removal

but as a "senior Partner" ( not familiar with Attorney nomenclature ) does she stil have to "clear" representation ? Im assuming to clear any perception of conflicts of interest.

Cleta seems like a bit of a weasel, or rather just another right winger playing the “victim” card.
