How Trump Could Lose the Election—And Still Remain President (1 Viewer)

    hmm

I like this comment though: The Biden campaign responded: “The American people will decide this election. And the United States government is perfectly capable of escorting trespassers out of the White House.”

The military would never allow it to happen. If push came to shove, the military would forcibly remove Trump.
I don't think the military would intervene as long as it appears he's behaving within the law. The scenario laid out in the article seems to indicate that this is a grey but legal area. That would be enough to keep the military out of it. If this scenario played out, I think at least a few of the Republican state delegations would vote against Trump, because even they would realize that this would be the end of the American experiment. I know they are partisan when it suits them, but I still think most are patriotic, and this would be too much for many to swallow. Remember that Trump only has about a 40% approval, so some of those Republican delegations are purple enough to do the right thing.

He is not going to lose the election.

(mod edit) JOE has nothing to run on. He is senile. And the LAST thing he wants is to run on the record of his eight years with Obama because today we are seeing the SAME results with the economy.

This lockdown is just reminding us how bad it was under Obama.

On Election Night, (mod edit) JOE will make that call to President Trump around 9:30 after discovering he has lost his own home state. He'll be reading his concession from a pad his handlers wrote for him.

    Sad.

Pretty much. It wasn't quite as sad when Walter Mondale lost in a landslide against Reagan. He was a four year loser in the Carter Machine. But he never had this many cognitive problems.

Hillary tried that same idiotic comment shortly before she lost in a landslide.

And the WOKE left spent THREE YEARS trying to overturn the 2016 election.

Here's an original idea: SHUT UP, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. If Biden loses, HE LOST. Get over it.

And if you think for ONE second President Trump is going to need ANY prompting to get out of an exhausting job he has been doing for FREE and go back to the great life he had before he saved the country, you seriously have zero understanding of human nature.

Wow dude you are kinda fun.

First we are here for discussion. This place will certainly point out when you are not being factually correct.

I will start with the silly lie you believe. Trump lost the popular election by over 3 million. That is the exact opposite of a Landslide.

If you want to tone it down a great bit I am more than sure you can get along here. But yes when you make an argument please post a link so we can all read where you are getting info from.

Hope you and your family are doing well in this pandemic!

Oh, I promise you we'll have a lot of fun. People don't go to political message boards for any reason other than to argue politics. These places provide an alternative to someone throwing his/her shoe at the TV. They probably prevent a lot of fist fights (although in some major blue cities, that concept doesn't seem to be working any more.) I'll present views that certain ideologues will (a) disagree with, (b) absolutely hate, (c) become triggered enough to order my arrest by the thought police.

If I'm ever factually incorrect, I'm sure this place will.

Oh I have no doubt he probably lost a straw poll by a landslide, too. He likely lost a poll taken by coffee drinkers at Starbucks. Thing is, neither of those items has EVER decided an American presidential election.

I know this is inconvenient, but Article II, Section 1 is very clear about the importance of any popular vote.

I'm pretty much along the lines with the other tones I've seen here. And I would ask that you hold everyone to the same standards as the ones you want me to abide by. So far, I've disagreed with some people. Maybe not all the time, but I certainly have provided reliable sources to back up my views. You just need to tell people who disagree with me to lighten up. If they lose an argument, it's not the same as getting cancer, having a heart attack or being in a car crash.

Hope you and your family are doing well in this pandemic!

Most families are. Back at ya.

Just out of curiosity, what made Trump's victory a landslide? He lost the popular vote and his percentage of EC votes won is 46th out of 58 elections.

It would never get to the level of the military. Electors cast votes in Dec and Congress certifies in early Jan. After Jan 20 inauguration, the secret service would remove an ex-president who refused to leave.

The bigger issues would be if a state sent 2 different electors or if Congress refused to certify the results. I could see Democrats refusing to certify if we see a massive drop in inner city votes due to no polling stations or massive mail-in ballot rejection. Republicans are dead set against mail in ballots because Covid will drop the urban vote. We could see a 300% increase in mail-in votes. Nationally, 300,000 mail-in ballots are rejected. So if in 2020 some 1M ballots mostly from urban areas get rejected, I could Dems protesting. Swing states could easily be lost due to mail-in ballots.

He probably lost a few straw polls at some coffee shops here and there. But as the United States Constitution has pointed out in Article II, Section One, the popular vote is irrelevant.

Algore won the popular vote but lost to Bush in the Electoral College.

Grover Cleveland won the popular vote but lost to Benjamin Harrison in the Electoral College.

And considering the point spread ALL the polls were ginning up, all of them giving Hillary a landslide victory, I'd say her loss is a MAJOR landslide event.

Please explain how having one of the 10-12 closest EC margins in history is a landslide, especially in light of losing the popular vote.

    Ok by definition landslide is

an overwhelming majority of votes for one party in an election.

"winning the election by a landslide"

Come on man the popular vote is factual. He lost it. So yes a looser can't win anything by a landslide and never will be a winner by a landslide. That is the exact opposite of a landslide.

So did you get that a looser can't win anything by a landslide. I seem to see his victory like a football team that looses on all the stats yet comes out on top with a little help. Kinda like pootie is the help.

You know kinda like that pass interference no call in the NFC championship game.

Oh by the way I love typing trump is a looser. So if you want to continue I am down for typing trump is a looser as many times as it takes.

According to the United States Constitution, it is a majority of ELECTORAL COLLEGE votes. And Trump CREAMED Hillary in that regard.

Straw polls may be factual. Getting opinions in a coffee shop may be factual. But according to the United States Constitution, they are IRRELEVANT.

Trump won the only landslide that counts, according to the Constitution.

Truthfully, I've lost all interest in football after those idiot players began taking a knee.

If it pleases you to type that Trump is looser (although you haven't specified looser than what) by all means type away.
