While Abrams may have a good personal story, I don't believe she makes a compelling case for VP. Even if you eliminate everyone other than women of color, she falls well down the list of qualified choices.

Yea, I don't see how she gets the nod, either

Klobuchar has taken herself out of contention for VP...

She didn't have a chance in hell anyway in my opinion.

I hadn't heard too much about Val Demings but after researching a bit.. wow, she seems like a really good pick with her experience in law enforcement and at the same time pushing for racial justice. Definitely possesses that rare passion and leadership you look for.

Susan Rice is another strong pick here. I really think the VP picked this year will be one of the most important figures for nearly the next decade -- not only from likely being the first African-American woman picked, but being the potential President after Biden as well.

What really made her star rise faster than expected was her performance during the impeachment hearing. I'd be ok with either Harris, Demings, or Rice in that order.

Now if stories like this increase during the Summer and early Fall, the election is in all likelihood over.

So he has unveiled a clean energy plan

and also said to want to expand ACA
but basically commented to what amounts to not wanting something like universal healthcare... so a weak half-measure at best.
" Joe Biden is casting “Medicare for All” as an effort to ditch the Affordable Care Act as the former vice president tries to distance himself from his 2020 Democratic presidential rivals on health care. "
(of course medicare for all would never pass the senate if ol' Mitch was still running the place)

He really needs to full court press the healthcare issue. I’ve thought this for a long while, well before COVID. But this has made it an imperative. And I am glad to see him taking it on now.

Do not relent. The healthcare crisis we face is on a lazy GOP who had years to do something and come up with something and done zilch.

Yeah, i don't get the Biden aversion to any sort of drastic Medicare expansion. Maybe it's because of his work with Obama on the ACA, but now is the absolute last time in the world you'd want half-measures.

I will give Biden credit that he's entertained a lot of more progressive ideas at least. Being open to it is half the battle.

Yea, I was listening to a news broadcast that was talking about his movement toward the consideration of more progressive measurers. Healthcare is one I think he needs to lean into more - maybe his internal polling is telling him that there isn't enough momentum behind it to be more openly supportive of broader measures.

But I think that would really change the more he hits on it and frames it as necessary to actually care for its citizens like a first world country.

Well, they did try to scrap the ACA, and came within a single vote of pulling it off. We can thank McCain for that. So it's not like they didn't try. I shudder to think what it would be like now had that outcome been different.

as much voter suppression as can be crammed into a single election.

Trump already had 3 million fewer votes than Clinton
His support base has not expanded
But he’s stirred up his opposition bases in possibly historic levels
Voter suppression is the only way Trump stays in office
It’s why Rs are railing against vote by mail so hard

As had been said, Trump basically just had to be one of those water drinking bird toys and let his advisors do their work and he’d waltz in to a second term.

That's the tragedy of Trump. He stumbled backwards into the greatest opportunity ever presented an American.
    And he pissed it away.

Considering how cowardly GOP legislators have proven to be, he could have implemented something actually better than the ACA, he could have passed a massive infrastructure package, he could have actually reduced the military budget and put that money into schools, parks or just about anything a regular American can see and use.

Despite his mental shortcomings, he could have gone down as one of the greats.
Instead, his mental illness took the reins and...here we are in the dumpster fire.

Biden to propose a plan that among other things like bailing out child care centers would establish a national pre K system. This was central to Elizabeth Warren's campaign. Would be huge if passed:
