So, there is a tidbit on the news feed from Snopes about an article they reposted from another site called The Conversation (straight repost, Snopes doesn't fact-check or comments on it); that article has a link to another article in the Atlantic about QAnon. It is a long read (it's The Atlantic), but it is interesting and scary at the same time. While the power of religion is still very widespread across the globe (or flat Earth, if you are one of those other nut cases :hihi: ) it never ceases to amaze me not only the willingness, but the desire of some people to be lead by the nose.

QAnon is a very dangerous mixture of religion and political conspiracy theory, made even more dangerous by certain GOP politicians and Q+ giving them legitimacy, whether they believe in it, or just doing it to benefit from the stupidity of some people, which is worse.

Yet another reason why we need to make sure those clowns don't remain in power and continue to legitimize this shirt, and shirt like this.

Had I've been alive during the 7th century, I'd be having flashbacks.

It's really not that bad of a setup. The tithe is only 7.5% instead of the standard 10%.

Don't underestimate the sheer levels of stupidity people will start owning for political gain.

It's all about what reaffirms thoughts and preconceived notions people have. Religion, politics -- it's all the same general idea. If you make those aspects 'feel good' in the sense that you don't question people's beliefs but play to their fears and irrationalities, you've hooked yourself a fish (or 10,000 followers overnight).

    Facts and reality be damned.

    Yeah good read.

What those people really believe is batshit crazy.

I have no earthly idea why Hillary would want to kill JFK jr?

    It is just plain nuts.

Now I love a conspiracy theory but God they have to have some sort of believability to them.

It is a fact I love all the JFK stuff but even the wackiest doesn't hold a candle to what those guys think on a slow day.

I have no earthly idea of what is really wrong with these people.

Similar to the Anti Vaxxers.. man, that stuff is cult level crazy.

man, that stuff is cult level
Could have just ended the sentence here. This whole Q movement is a cult inside a cult. That's what is even more terrifying to me. The "regular" cult members are already mostly bat shirt crazy across the board, just with hatred and ignorance, while these Q crazies possess that same hatred and ignorance but also believe the most irrational, obvious conspiracy theory nonsense that it makes them dangerous, IMO.

Then I don't know where to start.

Endless questions I can't wrap my head around.

Hey does that cult have good drugs?

I would follow just about anything for a never ending supply of shrooms!

    Also bring cookies.
And punch. Maybe pie too. According to Eric Cartman, there can be no party worthwhile if there's no punch and pie. Have punch and pie and people will come out of the woodworks for your cult.

ETA: I think it'd be awesome if there really is this "Q" character behind the scenes and he outs himself right before the election to let all of his followers that he was trolling them the whole time.

I reconnected with an old friend I grew up with a little over a year ago. He actually taught me how to play guitar, he was from a rough neighborhood, he was a tough kid but had a big heart....and he was a very talented and creative player. His parents were immigrants from Central America.

After his first divorce he found god at some point, got remarried to a born again as well. It slowly became apparent that he is now a full on Christian wacko who believes everything about Q'non, Obamagate, Plandemic, etc....he was never the smartest guy around but he was a really good guy and friend....

He is basically a cult member, some of the stuff he posts on social media is absolutely vile and hateful, I never would have imagined he would turn out the way he did....It really saddens me.

I've seen the same thing with one person I've known since kindergarten. Before Trump, it was the Tea Party line but post-Trump and the invention of "Q" I've had to put his posts on hide. I don't want to dislike this guy. There are only so many people you keep in contact with for your entire life (which we still do, but when we talk or meet up, we agree to not talk about politics or religion) so I'd hate to actually write the guy off as a lost cause. Maybe we'll see how things go after this virus plays out to its ultimate end (which I don't think we are anywhere even remotely close to) and the election. Poor guy.

I knew this girl when I was a kid. We grew up together. As she got older, she got into politics and then went to a liberal arts college. She became very liberal. It was sad. She now drives a VW bug, paints landscapes and doesn't shave. It makes me very sad. She also does not love Jesus and that is what worries me the most. I think I might just have to delete her from my life all together because she doesn't think like me anymore. I will miss my sister.

With the elimination of the "Mud Pit," I propose we bring back the full range of emojis on this board to rate posts with. Just because some thin skinned babies got their diapers in a wad in the first place to get them removed doesn't mean they should stay gone now that there is no place to go where you can take the gloves off.

And who in this thread said they did anything even remotely like that? Nobody, that's who. But thanks for playing the gaslighting game.

Yeah she might miss you one day when full on Edgar Maddison Welch and do your own pizza gate to save the world from the evil libs.

Yep but she probably would visit you in jail with fuzzy legs and pits but all those ladies drive Subarus not VWs.
